RULES
Please read all before joining.
Scatterstar is, above all things, a story-driven shared multiverse. We're writers who enjoy writing and character interaction. We're not about brute force. We're about the richness of the worlds.
Proper capitalization, punctuation and spelling is a must. Everyone makes mistakes, of course, but if the structure of most of your posts would get you a D in grade 5, then don't waste your time. "I'm posting from my phone!" isn't an excuse. If you can't craft a suitable post on your device, wait until you get home.
You must be fluent in English. No exceptions.
This RPG is rated R for violence, mature content, swearing.
IDSPISPOPD was a cheat code for the original DooM videogame.
Mods may change rules at their discretion. Questions? Ask HERE!
The Rules are divided into four sections.

CHARACTER RULES
Not all characters will be accepted, that's just the way of the world. Quality over quantity.
Fill out the bio completely. It can be found HERE.
If you need inspiration for character creation, there's a list of some suggested species HERE.
We accept almost any sci-fi space series. Star Trek, Star Wars, Avatar, Halo, Mass Effect, District 9, BSG, Firefly, Starfox, Stargate, Starcraft, Dead Space. This is just a small list to get your brain going. The list of what we do not accept is much shorter.
We will not accept Lovecraft, Invader Zim, Rick & Morty, or Xenomorphs (But you can be part of the Alien franchise, just not a playable Xenomorph.)
In your signature, you are required to have the links to your accepted character profiles. We are not your mothers; we will not do this for you.
Please do not use a comic or anime character for your character portrait. If you cannot draw, you can use actors and actresses, real world images. Please try to be unique though, and pick someone other than Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. Also, please do not pick actors who were already in Star Wars or Star Trek. Patrick Stewart cannot be your Sith Lord. Samuel L. Jackson cannot be your bounty hunter.
No canon characters. You cannot be Han Solo or Mara Jade. Canon characters are restricted to Mods Only. (Canon means it's established in the series' plot or time line. Luke being Anakin's son is Canon, Han and Lando's adopted son Lightbringer, is not. You also cannot be Legends/EU characters.)
You may not be related to a character without getting permission from the player. Try not to be related to a canon character. You can however, have dealings with canon characters. For example: You could have been one of Jabba’s favourite bounty hunters, you could have had a one night stand with Boba Fett, you baby-sat Wesley Crusher once.
Please try not to be trained or romantically involved with a canon character for extended periods of time. We feel having characters be too dependent on canon characters either messes up the story or time lines of the series, or simply limits creativity.
Limit to three characters per player. If you prove yourself capable, you may apply for a fourth after a while of RPing.
PLAYING RULES
If you're in an active thread, please post at least once every two weeks. We're pretty lax about that though. Life happens.
However, if you are going to be away, please try to let us know. My favourite Mass Effect character is Garrus.
Please type in full sentences when applying. No L33t, and no "L8r" "Ur" ect.
No Otakuspeak. For the love of god.
The RPG is written in story format:
"I will shoot you!", The Rodian screamed as he pulled a blaster from inside his jacket pocket.
Thoughts are written in italics:
I wish I was dead thought Luke bitterly.
When posting, please put the characters present and location in the subject. Example: "A Good Plot (Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Tatooine)"
Please change threads when the plot requires it. Think of each thread as a chapter of a story. Example: 13 post ago, the subject was "A good planet" and involved hiding out on an unknown planet, but then they were attacked by the inhabitants and shot one. Now they have to hide the body. "A good planet" is no longer relevant, so it's time for a change i.e. "Burial grounds".
Please post in depth posts. Try to get into the character's mind. There's no limit to the size a post can be, but if the majority of your posts are:
'"OK! I'll get on that!" She turned to walk off into the barracks' Then there's something missing there.
No powergaming/godmoding. My favourite Star Wars character is Sebulba. No perfect characters. Flaws are good, flaws are human, even if your character happens to be non-human. You can be a half-breed of two compatible races. Understand that you cannot be a Dark Jedi Spectre Browncoat Maquis Half-Klingon half-Xenomorph. That's a one way ticket to Planet Mary-Sue.
NO auto hits. However, you cannot avoid any and all hits.
Read posts thoroughly and in their entirety. This is especially important in battle. If someone uses a power, or a technique and the target of that attack does not acknowledge it in any way, then the attack is successful. Example:
In one post, Dvorak tried to find animals with his force power. The player who should be in control of the area (it's his character's ship) did not acknowledge the situation in any way. Therefore, Dvorak's technique was successful.
You may not kill another persons' character without first asking the player.
If you wish to RP sexual content, please play it in a separate location, or in PM. Some of us don't wish to be forced to read your nookie.
Swearing in general is all right, however, please keep it in character. And try to use fictional swears. Here's a small list: Gorram, Shiny, Frell, Fek, Dren, Draz, Frak, Shazbot, Poodoo, Scoun, Lurdo, Sleemo
There's a three strikes you're out policy on rules and characters. Do not oblige and you will be banned from the RP.
We will ban any players whom can't play like nice little children.
Violence is good!
Mature audiences only.
BATTLE RULES
All characters have the ability to use two MOVES per post of battle. Dodge, Attack. Attack, Dodge. Dodge, Dodge. Attack, Attack.
Talking is obviously a free action.
CREDIT SYSTEM
Upon acceptation of you character, you will be asked to do two things. You'll be asked to link your accepted character's profile to your signature, and you'll be award a certain amount of credits based on a mod's analysis of your character's wealth.
It might seem odd, however, that there is no shop to buy blasters or special weapons. This makes trading among character's more interesting. Character can asked to sell or buy at any price they choose, further facilitating RPs.(Characters get your persuasion skills on, you're going to need them.)
Luckily, this doesn't mean that you can't walk into a cantina and asked an NPC if he's selling anything. He very well might be doing so, so give it your best try. You can bargain the price down, making every interaction with the (supposed) shop more interesting than the last.
At the top of your accepted character's profile you will see a credit count, this is important. When you find or are robbed of credits by a mod throughout the RP, you must add or subtract the sum yourself. We will be watching this, don't cheat. The punishment is severe.
TIME LINE
The year of ScatterStar takes place 16BBY, 2-3 years after Star Wars: Episode 3.
The Earth-based year is 25XX, which best aligns our tent-pole series like Star Trek, Halo and Mass Effect. This means, basically, everyone has the most up to date tech from those series.
For example: By the time Mass Effect 3 ended, Star Trek could only achieve Warp 5. But in the 26th century Warp 10 is possible.
